This course is designed to guide your learning process through demonstrations by the instructor and your active participation. Critiques are an opportunity to show your work and talk about what interests you most about it. Participation from each student is necessary for this type of learning through discussion about the ideas and techniques you have explored in each project.
It is important to be on time for class. Bell work is provided to reinforce information taught in class. Mrs. Moore teaches photography concepts and gives instructions on how to operate the camera and equipment during the first part of class. If you miss a class, you must make sure you get notes from another student and make up any quizzes or missed information from Mrs. Moore. Truancy is given if a student leaves the class at any point and doesn't return. Safety comes first in the classroom and students are expected to use the chemicals appropriately and act appropriately in the dark room. Students will have to pay for lost or broken cameras. Cell phones will be taken to the office if used for texting, games, or phone calls. You may only use your phone if using photography apps. Food and drinks are not allowed in the room. This includes water bottles on the tables next to the computers. If you are not working on photography during class, you will be assigned a research paper or to create a power point presentation for the class.
Grading
Is determined by your active participation in class via critiques, conversations, and completion of projects. Students will fill out grading sheets for each completed project. Maintaining equipment will be an expectation of all students. Class time is to be used for processing film, printing, and developing. Any down time will be used for maintaining equipment, research, and studying photography.
